 More practice ...

Painting once more

Image
I started painting twenty years ago, in Wisconsin, for fun. I enjoyed it, but fell out of the practice. During my Dad's illness, and then COVID, I started working on complex paint-by-number canvases. They didn't require much thought, but I enjoyed the process of putting color on a surface. I nagged at myself to break out, and begin "real" painting (so judgy!).  Finally, in 2022, I started taking classes at a local art gallery. The artist who teaches them chooses a painting for us to "replicate"--no wine involved. I'm back, I think.

More Glass

Image
I’ve been working on multiple glass projects, but this joint effort with John turned out really well! He has engineered the frame to withstand high winds, which, as we learned the hard way, is a requirement.

Go Big

I finally finished my largest project yet, a supersized window valence. I need to figure out how to take a better photograph, one that captures the movement in the clear glass. Master Bathroom Window Valence

Spain

We loved our whirlwind trip. Planes, trains, rental cars, and endless walking. Delicious food, Roman ruins, gorgeous countryside, incredible architecture, and art. Oh, and some of the most incredible stained glass I've ever seen... The Alhambra in Granada Casa Mila, a Gaudi masterpiece Ronda Palau de la Musica Catalonia

Our Old Girl

Image
We thought we were going to have to say goodbye to our girl this week. She had a few terrible days and our hearts almost broke. A visit to the Vet turned her around. More pain meds, more often, to soften the pain and help with her arthritis. She's not a new dog, but she's clearly more comfortable. I'll take it, for now.

Presents for Pretty Girls

I decided to make a house-warming gift for Lauren, who was moving into her new apartment. This piece included several different techniques, including one I'd never tried before. I found a small sturdy stick, covered it in copper foil, and soldered it. Then, I integrated it into the piece. Fun!
